We're Addicted
Luckily my lovely husband loves period films as much as I do. So we're pleased to tell you about our latest and greatest find. Larkrise to Candleford is a BBC production which is currently showing its third season in the UK. Here in Canada we've had to rent (and subsequently buy for the collection) the season 1 and season 2 dvds.
In a nutshell this series is based upon the memoirs of Flora Thompson who wrote about the changing lives of the hamlet and townsfolk in the Oxford area of England in the late 1800's. The t.v. series uses the basis of the book as a starting point but branches off from it quite successfully. This is something you could watch happily with your family. My 20 year old son calls them "old lady movies" but even he admits that they are well done.
So, if you can find this at your library or dvd rental outlet give it a try - bet you can't stop at just one episode!

The actress in the black dress out in front, is she from the Cranford movie?
ReplyDeleteI have this on order from the library, I can't wait to get to watching it.
Yes, Julia Sawahli I think is her name and she plays a key role in the Larkford series.
