The New Nest Experiment is a Success

We have made a huge change in our lives this year.  As I've mentioned before we took a good, hard look at how we were living and decided that we needed to simplify our lifestyle.  We had a beautiful large ocean view home in the suburbs that we loved but was way too much work, too large and too expensive.  It took a lot of work to get to the point of being able to downsize from just under 4,000 sq/ft on a 1/4 acre to just under 1000 sq.ft. with a patio in the city.  There are three of us living here and my husband and I also work here.  This is a one bedroom suite on the west side of Vancouver about a block away from the beach.  The spaces are well used - the living room doubles as our 16 year old son's bedroom and the dining area doubles as our at home office.  I am really proud that we are making this simple space work for us, its an adjustment but we love it.   The three of us really enjoy each other's company so it is easy for us to all be in the same space together.  The odd time when you need a break - the beach is just out the front door where a whole lot of solitude is available.

  1. The main thing is that you can make it work. So many people live in huge houses when there is only 2 or 3 people. I am happy in my small house, it's a good size for two of us plus the pets. I can't imagine needing or wanting more space. I don't have a beach close by, that must be nice - but we keep our yard as an escape, it's a great place to relax after a busy week.

    Very clean looking.
